We are the ones who nurture and care for others. We can’t take care of anyone else if we don’t take care of ourselves.”

1. Visit your primary care physician.
There are numerous steps that women can take to achieve and maintain good health. The first step is to schedule an appointment with your doctor so you know what you need to work on.
“I think it’s always good to know where you’re at in terms of your health,” says Dr. Fordham.
So make an appointment with your doctor and have your blood pressure checked. Determine your blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
“You’ll want to screen for those silent killers early on,” Dr. Fordham advises.
2. Examine your eating habits.
“We should all eat healthier,” says Dr. Fordham. “If we all followed the type of meal plans that diabetics do, the world would be a healthier place.” This type of diet entails:
- Sugary foods should be avoided.
- Eating smaller portions throughout the day.
- Being mindful of how many carbohydrates you consume.
- Every day, eat a variety of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
- Consuming less fat.
- I’m abstaining from alcohol.
- Utilizing less salt (sodium).
“‘If you bought a really expensive car, would you start putting potato chips in it?’ I ask a lot of my patients. 3. Get your feet moving.
“A lot of us are very sedentary, very glued to our screens,” says Dr. Fordham. “We’re not getting out there and doing anything. If we were out there exercising, our overall fitness would improve, our depression scores would improve, we would feel better, have more energy, and sleep better.”
Experts recommend at least 150 minutes of moderately intense exercise per week, or 30 minutes on most days.
4. Be mindful of what you put into your body.
Avoid putting potentially harmful substances into your body. “Tobacco, marijuana, and alcohol. Putting these things in your body is never a good idea.”
5. Make sleep a priority.
“Many of us do not get enough sleep. And if you’re not getting enough rest, you won’t be able to care for anyone, let alone yourself “Dr. Fordham claims If you’re having trouble sleeping, you should consider getting tested for obstructive sleep apnea.
Try to get seven to nine hours of sleep per night for the best health.
6. Decrease stress.
“”When I’m feeling stressed, I remember the ‘Five Blessings’ rule,” Dr. Fordham says.
Start counting your blessings, in other words. What is going well in your life?
“By the third one, I’m thinking, ‘OK, I have all these good things in my life.'” My perspective has completely changed by the fifth one.”
7. Develop the ability to say “no.”
“The ability to say ‘no’ is a valuable skill. We must recognise that we are a finite being, and we must choose the most important priorities “Dr. Fordham claims “It’s okay not to do everything that comes your way.”
8. Make a schedule for your medical appointments.
“It helps me if a patient brings a list that summarises what’s going on with their health and what they hope to accomplish from that visit. I may not be able to cover everything on the list, but I can cover the important points.”
